THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR TRADITION
The "Harvard Chair" has been manufactured for Harvard by Nichols & Stone since the 1800's; endorsed by the Harvard Alumni Association since the early 1900's; and exclusively sold by the COOP since 1960. This chair has its roots in a chair from the Harvard dining halls of the 1700's and its current look and dimensions were decided upon by President Lowell. In fact, President Lowell, with the support of the Harvard Alumni Association, gave each Freshman his own "Harvard Chair" for their use at the College. This practice has since ceased, but the desire of Alumni and students for these chairs continues.

THE TRADITION CONTINUES...
There is only one "Harvard Chair" which has been enjoyed by generations of students and alumni alike and is a universally recognized symbol of achievement for Harvard University Graduates. The COOP is proud to be a partner with the Harvard Alumni Association in exclusively offering the "Harvard Chair" to alumni.
